Observer Localization in Multiverse Theories

چکیده

The progression of theories suggested for our world, from egoto geoto helio-centric models to universe and multiverse theories and beyond, shows one tendency: The size of the described worlds increases, with humans being expelled from their center to ever more remote and random locations. If pushed too far, a potential theory of everything (TOE) is actually more a theories of nothing (TON). Indeed such theories have already been developed. I show that including observer localization into such theories is necessary and sufficient to avoid this problem. I develop a quantitative recipe to identify TOEs and distinguish them from TONs and theories in-between. This precisely shows what the problem is with some recently suggested universal TOEs.

A Complete Theory of Everything (will be subjective)

The progression of theories suggested for our world, from egoto geoto helio-centric models to universe and multiverse theories and beyond, shows one tendency: The size of the described worlds increases, with humans being expelled from their center to ever more remote and random locations. If pushed too far, a potential theory of everything (ToE) is actually more a theory of nothing (ToN). Indee...

The Subjective Computable Universe

Nearly all theories developed for our world are computational. The fundamental theories in physics can be used to emulate on a computer ever more aspects of our universe. This and the ubiquity of computers and virtual realities has increased the acceptance of the computational paradigm. A computable theory of everything seems to have come within reach. Given the historic progression of theories...

A Comparative Study of the “Ideal Observer” in Meta-ethics and the “Divine Command” Theory

The two theories of “ideal observer” and “divine command” are theories on constructionism and voluntarism. According to the ideal theory, ethical realities are defined based on the attitudes of the assumed ideal observers and the foundation of these theories is formed on negation of the independent ethical realities. Therefore, existence of independent and evident ethical realities based on whi...

Predictions and Tests of Multiverse Theories *

Evidence for fine-tuning of physical parameters suitable for life can perhaps be explained by almost any combination of providence, coincidence or multiverse. A multiverse usually includes parts unobservable to us, but if the theory for it includes suitable measures for observations, what is observable can be explained in terms of the theory even if it contains such unobservable elements. Thus ...

Three Aspects of Typicality in Multiverse Cosmology

Extracting predictions from cosmological theories that describe a multiverse, for what we are likely to observe in our domain, is crucial to establishing the validity of these theories. One way to extract such predictions is from theorygenerated probability distributions that allow for selection effects—generally expressed in terms of assumptions about anthropic conditionalization and how typic...
